Commercial Manager Africa

Job description
In this role you will manage the commercial activities for the Africa region. You will focus on retaining existing clients whilst winning new business in line with the business plan. You will report directly to the Regional Managing Director Africa. Your time will be divided by 40% traveling and 60% in the Rotterdam (or home) office.Main responsibilities:
· Prepare and execute approved annual commercial plans, strategies & targets.
· Identify, execute, and manage key promotional activities and new business opportunities
· Ensure pre-qualification on the bid list of companies as defined in the business plan
· Promote portfolio to secure business through regular contact with existing and potential clients.
· Conduct market and operational analysis during the "prepare for tender" phase and submit the bid strategy.
· Lead and manage tender processes to prepare and finalize bids for submission.
· Develop and maintain relationships with (potential) clients and other relevant parties and provide advice on potential joint venture partners.
· Ensure contractual rate escalations and/or variations are executed.
· Report on client visits, meetings, and developments in the CRM system and produce timely Commercial reports and Business Intelligence information.
· Provide leadership to and manage project teams.
Requirements
The right candidate for this role:· Fluency in English (C1), fluency in French and or Dutch is a plus
· Bachelor’s degree at a maritime academy or university level qualifications or relevant commercial management experience within the maritime industry
· 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience
· Knowledge of current energy industry market trends and developments e.g. decarbonization and alternative fuels
· Knowledge and understanding of analyzing tenders and bid preparation
· Developed managerial competences and a good eye for accuracy in administration.
· Pro-active, hands-on, commercially savvy, able to manage stress, strong analytical and quantitative skills
· Experience with working with multinational and multicultural staff
· Willing to travel to Africa or other countries on a very regular basis
Working conditions
This concerns a full time role that starts with a one year contract that be extended to a permanent one. Other benefits include:- Bonus to be determined
