Meet the Recruiter - Luiz Neto-van Raalte

We have shared a lot with you about our company, our events, the Netherlands as a country and their traditions. We feel like it is high time you got acquainted with some of our colleagues. This blog will give you more insight into the life of a recruiter, the challenges they face, their most memorable moments and their guilty pleasures. This week we will introduce our recruiter from Utrecht, Luiz Neto-van Raalte. Enjoy!

1. How did you end up at Undutchables?

In Brazil I was working as a commercial manager and speaker for D&I (diversity & inclusion), passionate about making an impact in people's lives. When I moved to The Netherlands I struggled to find my career path and ended up working in retail for a while. Thankfully, with the help of a Dutch coach, I discovered I could combine my skills in both areas and then TCHARAM... Recruitment. Thanks to my colleague Camila, I found Undutchables, and it was a great match!

2. What are the most/least enjoyable aspects of your role?

The coolest part for me is getting to know so many amazing people and their stories along the way, and helping them find a job. Using my own past “expat struggles” to guide them. The toughest part, though, is dealing with the frustration when a candidate gets rejected.

3. What is the biggest challenge of the job?

Finding German speakers.... #kidding. For me it's managing the expectations and emotions of both candidates, clients and myself (hehe) throughout the hiring process, finding the right balance between quantity and quality. This challenge requires effective time management, strategic thinking, and a keen understanding of both the job requirements, the candidate pool, and the job market.

4. What has been your most memorable moment in the job?

On my first day at work I attended a meeting with all the employees of the company. I was pleasantly surprised by the high caliber of individuals and their positive attitudes throughout the offices. It was remarkable and almost unbelievable!

5. What do you think is key for a successful recruiting process?

Effective communication! Clear, transparent communication ensures everyone is on the same page regarding expectations, timelines, and next steps. This, combined with empathy, makes the process smooth and successful.

6. If you were to have a job outside an office environment, what would be your dream job?

I would be a travel blogger! Sharing experiences through social media is my passion. Over time, with my phone in hand I've reached places and connected with people I never imagined possible. Today it's my hobby, but if I could do this and discover new places while working, it would be incredible. 😊

7. What's your guilty pleasure?

Fashion is definitely my guilty pleasure. I find joy in following new trends and expressing myself through my style. While I respect those who prefer a more understated look, it's just not for me.
