Meet the Executive Recruiter - Lynn Braat

We have shared a lot with you about our company, our events, the Netherlands as a country and their traditions. We feel like it is high time you got acquainted with some of our colleagues. This blog will give you more insight into the life of a recruiter, the challenges they face, their most memorable moments and their guilty pleasures. This week we will introduce our executive recruiter, Lynn Braat. Enjoy!

1. How did you end up in recruitment?

An old classmate of mine worked at Undutchables and I ran into her at the same moment they were hiring a Recruitment Consultant for the Eindhoven office. Having just finished my bachelor’s in International Business and Languages I felt this was a good match with what I was looking for, so I applied and started the job in 2016. Have not regretted it for a second!

2. What are the most/least enjoyable aspects of recruiting?

Most enjoyable: Meeting people from all over the world. It’s great to hear their stories and to share our experiences.

Least enjoyable: When you have to deliver bad news to a candidate and tell them they have not been chosen for the job. It’s not nice to be the bearer of bad news.

3. What is the biggest challenge of the job?

The biggest challenge in recruitment can be managing expectations. As you are the middle person, you can not always control the process or it’s speed. You are dependent on both client and candidate and that can be challenging in managing the expectations for both sides. Therefore, it’s important to keep chasing feedback and updating people even if you don’t have any concrete news. You have to keep both parties engaged.

4. What has been your most memorable moment in the job?

There are many great ones, so I can’t pick just one. To me every time you get to make a candidate and client happy is a memorable moment.

5. What do you think is key for a successful recruiting process?

I think communication is key. From the beginning it has to be clear what the client is looking for and what the job entails. We need this information to find a great match for the role. Then we have to make sure the candidate is informed on everything related to the job and company, so they can decide if it’s the right choice for them to pursue this opportunity. During the entire process, it’s important to have clear communication on every step so everybody knows what to expect and what is needed from them.

6. If you were to have a job outside an office environment, what would be your dream job?

I really like my job but if I would have to think of something outside an office environment, I would like to have a cute little bed and breakfast in a nice place with a great view.

7. What's your guilty pleasure?

Reality TV shows, I love it!
