Being an international is a strength - not a disadvantage. Many Dutch companies value global perspectives, multilingual communication, and adaptability. Instead of downplaying your background, highlight how it adds value: perhaps you’ve worked with diverse teams, adapted quickly to new systems, or built relationships across cultures. Those are powerful assets in any role.
Technical knowledge gets your foot in the door, but soft skills keep you there. Companies are increasingly looking for candidates who show cultural awareness, empathy, teamwork, and resilience. In interviews, give real examples of how you’ve handled challenges, collaborated remotely, or adapted to change - it makes a real difference.
A well-structured CV can be the difference between getting noticed and getting overlooked. Make sure your CV is clear, organized, and easy to follow. Use simple formatting, clear headings, and bullet points to describe your key tasks, responsibilities, and achievements. Include as much relevant information as possible, but keep it concise and visually balanced. Recruiters and hiring managers appreciate CVs that are both informative and effortless to read.
Workplaces are evolving - hybrid setups, digital tools, and cross-border collaboration are the norm. Highlight your comfort with remote tools (like CRM systems, Teams, or project management platforms) and your willingness to be flexible with work styles or schedules. It signals that you’re ready for the modern workplace.
Quality over quantity really matters when it comes to job applications. Take the time to read each job description carefully and make sure you truly meet the key requirements - whether that’s the right experience, transferable skills, or language abilities. Applying selectively means you’ll focus your energy on positions that genuinely fit your background and strengths.
