Werf& interview with Marjan Stoit

Our Commercial Manager, Marjan Stoit, was recently interviewed by Werf& to discuss her opinion on the future of the branding of Dutch businesses. She will be sharing her expertise on this subject on September 9th during an event focused on the Internationalization of the Dutch Labour Market ('Internationalisering van de Nederlandse Arbeidsmarkt'). You can already get a sneak peek at her insights on this important subject by reading the full interview here (in Dutch) or checking out the highlights below.

According to Marjan, and her 25 years of expertise working with international companies and candidates in the Netherlands, the current labour market shortages have increased the need for internationalization within the Dutch labour market. However, she has also noticed that there is some resistance to this movement at the moment which could result in significant consequences for our economy and the branding and recruitment of companies in the Netherlands.

This is why Marjan will be covering this topic in more detail in a workshop titled, 'Is de branding van BV Nederland in gevaar?' ('Is the branding of Dutch businesses in danger?'). During the interview with Werf& Marjan discussed some of the major questions that are coming up lately when it comes to the internationalization of the labour market and what effect this will have for companies in the Netherlands. See what she has to say about that below:

  • "We need highly educated, creative, and innovative talents who are not always available within the Netherlands."
  • "For years, the Netherlands has successfully positioned itself as an attractive location for both foreign companies and Dutch companies that partly rely on foreign talent. International candidates generally know the Netherlands as an open, tolerant, inclusive, and liberal country. Additionally, there have long been attractive arrangements for knowledge workers and expats (such as the 30% ruling). We are a small country with a well-developed knowledge economy, which benefits from international trade relations. For this, you need highly educated, creative, and innovative talents who are not always available within the Netherlands. With the new political winds blowing, essential regulations for foreign talent wanting to work in the Netherlands are being questioned. The negative climate surrounding migration is also impacting migrants already working here. They are beginning to wonder if they are still welcome."
  • "With the inauguration of the Schoof administration and the ongoing housing market shortages, the branding of the Netherlands as an attractive international location seems to be at risk. We cannot afford to impose restrictions while neighboring countries are doing the exact opposite."
  • "In my opinion, it would be desirable to expand the number of schemes for special target groups rather than restrict them."
  • "Migration is a complex issue that evokes many sentiments, but on balance, labour migration has contributed positively to our prosperity for many years."

This remains a complex topic with many important factors to be considered. Which is why it is essential to keep the conversation going. Order your ticket today to join Marjan and other industry experts in dissecting the world of international recruitment in the Netherlands during 'Internationalisering van de Nederlandse Arbeidsmarkt' on Monday, September 9th from 11:45-17:30 CET.

Please note: This event will be mainly in Dutch.
