Job description
The Inside Sales Officer is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of customers within a defined geographic area, in line with the agency’s business plan. This role focuses on promoting the company’s products and services, while representing its values and brand image. The primary objectives are to drive business growth, enhance the customer experience, and strengthen the loyalty of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through effective sales efforts.
1. Account Management- Hold overall responsibility for managing a portfolio of SME accounts across export, import, and cross-trade activities
- Plan and execute customer calls in line with the commercial strategy, customer segmentation, and trade objectives
- Set individual sales targets per account in coordination with Trade Management
- Pursue sales leads, identify new market opportunities, and drive business development
- Ensure all accounts have competitive rates filed and that these are accurately entered in the relevant systems (e.g., Lara)
- Maintain clear communication and collaboration with Trade Teams (both local and head office) as well as Sales Support
2. Finance- Aim for the highest level of invoice accuracy and ensure payments are received within agreed timelines
- Ensure valid and current credit agreements are in place for customers eligible for credit terms
- Support resolution of contract-, quote-, or filing-related disputes
3. Performance Monitoring & Reporting- Keep commercial data updated in internal systems
- Monitor customer performance using data analysis tools and metrics
- Create detailed and high-quality sales call notes and record them in the CRM system
- Regularly report on results, customer developments, and sales activities to Sales Management
Requirements
Skills & Competencies- Fluent in Dutch and English; French is an asset
- Previous experience within the Maritime shipping industry is a non-negotiable requirement for this position
- Proficient in MS Office, CRM tools, and other relevant internal systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Customer-focused and results-oriented
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent negotiation skills with a proven ability to close sales
