Job description

As a Senior Field Service Engineer with our client, you will play a critical role in partnering with customers to install and maintain hardware systems. This includes providing technical support, troubleshooting, and resolving customer concerns. Acting as an engineering consultant during pre- and post-sales activities, you will work closely with the broader commercial team to drive sales growth, optimize instrument performance, and enhance customer satisfaction.Your responsibilities will include:

• Serve as a technical liaison between the field team and internal support structures by providing timely, onsite assistance to customers, field application specialists, and account managers.
• Exhibit technical proficiency in installing, upgrading, repairing, and maintaining hardware systems within the assigned territory.
• Maintain and utilize current service and training manuals, field service bulletins, and SOPs; facilitate remote connectivity to customer equipment.
• Deliver technical support to customers, colleagues, and external contractors.
• Prioritize and coordinate service requests to ensure customer satisfaction with timely interventions.
• Manage service inventory levels to promote first-time resolutions and maintain parts accuracy.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing teams on system placements, identifying leads, and promoting upgrades and contract renewals.
• Build and maintain relationships with key customers to ensure successful product utilization.
• Provide effective problem-solving support for subsidiary or distributor needs.
• Represent our client professionally, ethically, and consistently.
• Remain compliant with administrative tasks and business protocols.
• Execute qualification and validation of products at customer sites.
• Demonstrate knowledge of working in regulated environments.
• Coordinate new installations, including facility inspections and instrument validation.
• Contribute to departmental project teams to drive successful project outcomes.

Requirements

What do we expect from you?

• Prior experience in an engineering role involving the maintenance and support of highly technical and complex equipment.
• Background in biology or scientific disciplines, gained through education or industry, is advantageous.
• Field service experience is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with DNA technologies is desirable.
• Experience with microscopes is beneficial.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical challenges.
• Proficiency in technical writing.
• Knowledge of optical alignments, robotics, electrical/electronics, and mechanical systems is preferred.
• Basic understanding of general laboratory practices and safety protocols.
• Ability to address customer concerns while maintaining strong and positive relationships.
• Dedication to delivering exceptional customer service.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% within the Benelux region, with occasional travel across Europe.
• Fluency in both Dutch and English is mandatory.
