We have shared a lot with you about our company, our events, the Netherlands as a country and their traditions. We feel like it is high time you got acquainted with some of our colleagues. This blog will give you more insight into the life of a recruitment professional, the challenges they face, their most memorable moments and their guilty pleasures. This week we will introduce our recruiter from Utrecht, Kelsey Persch. Enjoy!
When I first arrived in the Netherlands, I signed up for Undutchables in hopes of finding a great international company to join. A year later, I was approached for a position with one of the Undutchables clients – that role didn’t work out, but luckily there was also an opening at the Utrecht office of Undutchables for an Office Assistant role. Thank the stars for that, because here I am almost eight years later, and still very happy to be part of the Undutchables team!
I love the coordination aspect of it all – the scheduling of interviews, passing on feedback, negotiating offers. It’s very fun to be in the middle of a process that hopefully leads to a positive outcome for both client and candidate.
On the other side of that coin, I don’t love the “chasing” part of the job. Requesting feedback from a client over and over, or messaging a candidate several times for their decision on an offer. It can be quite frustrating, but is definitely part of the job!
The biggest challenge for me would be translating the client’s requirements for a role into an actual candidate. Every candidate is unique, with their own background, experience, and expectations. At the same time, clients often have a very specific idea of what they’re looking for in their next hire. Bridging the gap between these two sides and finding enough common ground to make a strong match can be quite challenging. Sometimes it takes an instinct and a ‘good feeling,’ which can be hard to trust!
I still often think back to a candidate I met who had a horrific past full of hardship and threatening situations. I introduced him for a role way under his paygrade, just hoping to give him his first step in a new country. He was hired, and after a few months, promoted to a role which was even a step up from his position in his home country. That was a very satisfying experience that I was grateful to have been able to facilitate!
Communication! Nothing groundbreaking, but it is so important to stay in touch with all parties consistently. Even if it’s a quick check in to say “still here, still happy to help” – this can make or break even the most sure of hires.
I would love to be a baker! I have a daydream of one day opening my own café with a play area where parents can come and enjoy a yummy treat while having their hands free. Maybe one day!
Reality TV – I’m a sucker for it. I love to experience the drama while having zero repercussions to my own life 😊

A: Mexico is at the top of my list currently – the food, weather, culture and proximity to home.

It has come to our attention that some unaffiliated individuals and/or parties have used the Undutchables name illegally to promote fake job opportunities and solicit money via social media channels and e-mail.
Please be advised that this is not us. We will never request money from job seekers as this is contrary to the way we work and is against the law in the Netherlands. If you are approached by someone claiming to be from Undutchables that requests money for helping you find a job then you can be certain that they are not truly from Undutchables.
If you are approached by one of our Recruitment Consultants with a job opportunity they will identify themselves as such and will not ask you for money. You can find a comprehensive and up to date list of all of our current employees on our website, so if someone approaches you under the name of Undutchables you can always confirm their employment with Undutchables by checking our website.
