Tip From a Recruiter - Luisa Ticca

Job hunting can feel like a full-time job and figuring out the best moves to make can be confusing, especially in a new labour market. Getting a peek inside the mind of a recruiter can make this process a bit easier. So, let us help with that! In this blog series our experienced recruitment consultants share their top tips to help you succeed in your job search. Learn how to make your application stand out, impress recruiters, and move through the job application process smoothly by following the advice of our experts. This month’s tips are brought to you by our recruitment consultant from our office in Eindhoven, Luisa Ticca.

TIP 1 - Clear and Concise Communication Starts with Your CV

Your CV is your first impression. Make it easy to read with clear formatting, bullet points, and a logical structure. Use relevant keywords from the job description. Avoid long paragraphs. Your goal is to help the reader understand what you bring in 10–15 seconds, so that you will get invited for an interview!

TIP 2 - Consistency is Key

Be transparent during interviews, especially when speaking to a recruiter. Your story must match your CV. If there are gaps, explain them. If you’ve changed direction, tell us why. Discrepancies raise doubts—consistency builds trust.

TIP 3 - Let Your Story Do the Work

Facts are essential, but people remember stories. Use interviews to tell your story. Explain how your background led you here, what motivates you, and where you’re heading. Storytelling is not about overexplaining—it’s about making your path clear and relatable, adding personality!

TIP 4 - Match Your Style to the Interviewer

When you reach the business interview stage, observe and adapt. If the interviewer is formal and reserved, match that tone. If they’re more relaxed, allow some of the informal parts of your personality to show through. Flexibility shows emotional intelligence and helps build rapport.

TIP 5 - Keep It Short and Structured in the Dutch Market

In the Netherlands, interviews are typically straightforward. Long-winded answers or vague statements don’t land well. Be concise, structured, and clear in your responses. Avoid overselling—stick to facts, stay grounded, and get to the point. Dutch interviewers value efficiency and authenticity.
