Job hunting can feel like a full-time job and figuring out the best moves to make can be confusing, especially in a new labour market. Getting a peek inside the mind of a recruiter can make this process a bit easier. So, let us help with that! In this blog series our experienced recruitment consultants share their top tips to help you succeed in your job search. Learn how to make your application stand out, impress recruiters, and move through the job application process smoothly by following the advice of our experts. This month’s tips are brought to you by our recruitment consultant from Eindhoven, Elçin Arıcı.
Candidates sometimes believe that if they add more details to their resume they will appear more experienced and look like a better candidate for the position they are applying for. As a result, they prepare resumes that go on for pages. This strategy is not helpful because a lengthy resume does not make you a more experienced candidate than you actually are. Instead, preparing a clear and concise resume and writing a cover letter for the position you are applying to will be much more effective.
It is easy to answer a recruiter's questions with a simple "yes" or "no," but remember, the interview is an opportunity for you to show your skills and help them get to know you. It is the perfect time to explain the experiences you mentioned in your resume, providing details and supporting them with specific examples.
If you have applied for a job and you are truly interested in the position, it is really important to make sure you are easily reachable by email or phone. This helps you stay in touch with the recruiter. Even if you are the perfect candidate for the position, if we can’t reach you or if you take too long to reply, there’s a risk that your application could be passed over. So, always check your messages regularly and respond as quickly as possible to show your interest and commitment to the position. This simple step can make a big difference in your chances of moving forward in the hiring process.
