The minimum wage in the Netherlands has been increased again as of July 1st, 2026. Below we have provided a chart of the new minimum wage requirements as well as a couple of other remuneration updates.
As of July 1st, the minimum wage requirements have been updated. The previous legal minimum wage for individuals 21 years of age and older was €14.71 per hour. As of July 1st, this has been adjusted to €14.99 per hour.
Please see the table below for the updated requirements. If you have any questions about minimum wage in 2026 please let us know or visit the official Rijksoverheid website for more information.
Various social welfare benefits, such as unemployment benefits (WW, WIA, WAO, WAZ, ZW, etc.), state pension (AOW), and the IOAW and IOAZ, have also been increased as of July 1st. For a comprehensive description of what is changing feel free to check out this list (in Dutch).
The tax-free mileage allowance has also been increased from €0.23 per kilometer to €0.25 per kilometer. This is not a required change but allows companies to increase travel compensation for their employees by €0.02 per kilometer, tax-free. This can also be applied retroactively to January 1st, 2026. Should you wish to apply this please see the official website of the Tax Authority for details.
