Brexit: Transition period

The UK left the European Union on the 31st of January. The UK is now in the transition period and is due to last until the 31 December 2020. During this period, All EU rules and regulations will continue to apply to the UK.

So what does this mean for you? This includes that you keep your existing rights:

  • Freedom of movement (the right to live and work in the EU and vice versa)
  • Traveling to and from the EU (passports and driving license)

If you have the British nationality you will receive an invitation from the IND to submit an application for residence after 31 December 2020. For more information on this application and what this process looks like please have a look at the IND website.
