Meet the Recruiter - Savannah Haley Morris

We have shared a lot with you about our company, our events, the Netherlands as a country and their traditions. We feel like it is high time you got acquainted with some of our colleagues. This blog will give you more insight into the life of a recruiter, the challenges they face, their most memorable moments and their guilty pleasures. This week we will introduce our recruiter from The Hague, Savannah Haley Morris. Enjoy!

1. How did you end up at Undutchables?

After moving to the Netherlands I was working in retail, but still frequently checking Undutchables’ website for interesting positions and I saw that they were looking for a Recruitment Consultant in The Hague. The idea of helping other expats find work here interested me so I applied, and I’ve been with Undutchables for almost a year and a half now!

2. What are the most/least enjoyable aspects of your role?

The most enjoyable aspect of recruiting is making a placement of course! Successfully helping both candidates and clients find their perfect match never gets old. The least enjoyable aspect is when I have to tell a candidate that they didn’t get the job. However, if a rejection comes with valuable feedback it can bring you one step closer to finding your dream job.

3. What is the biggest challenge of the job?

I think the fact that we are generalists and are not focused on one particular industry or specialty is one of the biggest challenges, but also one of the most rewarding aspects of this job. I’ve learned so much about different sectors in the job market in just a short time and there is still more to learn.

4. What has been your most memorable moment in the job?

I don’t think I could pick just one! It is really special any time I’m able to tell a candidate that they’ve been offered a position and get to see their excitement.

5. What do you think is key for a successful recruiting process?

As a recruiter I think it is key to get to know candidates beyond their work experience and to see the person as more than a résumé. When we get to know our candidates, we are more likely to find a suitable match for them as opposed to if we only read their CV.

6. If you were to have a job outside an office environment, what would be your dream job?

I’m really passionate about analog street photography, so it would be my dream job to take photos and make darkroom prints all day.

7. What's your guilty pleasure?

Reality TV, specifically all of the Real Housewives franchises.
