Song festival party 2017
An evening in the Orient
Last weekend, on the 13th of May, we hosted our annual Eurovision Song Festival party in Amsterdam. Each year we choose a different theme and this years’ theme was; An evening in The Orient.
The location was the St Olof’s chapel in Amsterdam and what a great location it was. This historical church chapel with high ceilings was elaborately that it felt like entering an Oriental paradise when entering the building. Red lanterns hung from the ceilings, bamboo plants lined the walls and there was a photo corner with a real rickshaw where guests could sit and take pictures! Amongst the crowd we had a Geisha on stilts, a God of Fortune walking around handing out Fortune Cookies and at 22:30 we had a special entertainment surprise; there was a traditional Chinese lion dance! The dancing really got underway afterwards on our dancefloor which was lit up in different colors throughout the night.
For those who wanted to watch the Eurovision Song Festival live there was a comfortable lounge area on the balcony upstairs where guests could listen to the Eurovision Songfestival with the wireless head phones we were handing out. That way they would not be bothered by the DJ downstairs and could listen to the songs comfortably.
The guests had put a lot of effort in their costumes and it was amazing to see ninja’s, geisha’s, panda’s and sushi rolls walking around amongst the crowd. Dragon Ball Z & his matching Geisha were the winners of the best costume, we loved the effort that they put into their costumes. For the person who guessed the correct winner of the Eurovision Song Festival there was a prize of a plane ticket worth €250 to whichever destination he/she wanted to go! Congratulations again Alex Cheung!
The rest of the evening was a mix of dancing Geisha’s, drinking Ninja’s and Hello Kitty ensembles. Hungry guests could snack on grilled prawns, sushi, spring rolls and chicken sate. For those in need of a break in between all the dancing there was a massage corner where our masseuses loosened up our guests shoulder so that they were ready for the next round of dancing. For those who could not find a suitable costume we also had a face paint corner where we had professionals apply face paint for whoever wanted. Right next to the face paint corner there was a photo booth for those who wanted a lasting memory of the evening.

The evening continued until way past midnight and long after all the sushi rolls were finished. For those who joined us for the festivities this year, we hope you enjoyed it, and for those who missed it, we hope to welcome you next year at our Eurovision Song Festival party!
